It's Okay

Somehow, as human beings, we tend to look at the negative things in life more than reflecting the positive things in them.

Sometimes when things don’t go your way, it’s okay.

It can be frustrating to plan for things but have other things rely on the previous things, thus originally ruining the first thing... It’s okay. I am here to tell you; its okay!

Some days we wake up inspired and some days we don’t. Some nights we get our beauty sleep, while most nights, there are monsters under our beds keeping us awake... It’s happened to the best of us, my friends! I promise you!

To share a little bit of why I wrote this post:

I was, like a little child, getting ready for my birthday week. (I’d like to interject here that I am not the one to be super excited for birthdays but I have such a strong unit holding me together; it’s hard not to be excited!)

With everything set forth for having our traditional family dinner, lunch with the friends, something wonderful was about to happen. I was going to, for the first time, travel to Oman to TEACH with Nikon School! It would be a great week of lunch and dinner, shooting a wedding and heading for a break to Fujairah, and the quick 1-day trip to teach was just the cherry on top! All my favourites, wrapped up in a weekend!

But it failed. I was at the point 23 years old, on my father’s sponsorship. And got denied visa.

Let’s not even get to how disappointed I felt…

Somehow, as human beings, we tend to look at the negative things in life more than reflecting the positive things in them. Kind of a half-glass full and a half glass empty situation.

I am definitely not talking about being as sacrificial as Mother Teresa, but embrace the disappointment. It’s natural to sometimes have things not go your way.  Allow yourself to be angry/upset/annoyed/irritated, and anything but jovial. It’s not the end of the world! You're not a bad person for doing it! Eat ice cream in bed, whine in your pjs, don't shower for a day... it's all A-Okay :)

Maybe it feels like it for a little while, but take it a day at a time. It could honestly be the birth of a better plan, more opportunities, and if we’re lucky, some more time in the garden playing with the butterflies!

Bottom line is: It's going to be okay.
